DULUTH, Minn. – About 40 power wheelchair soccer athletes poured into the DECC Saturday for some competition.

Courage Kenny Northland hosted the event with teams from the Twin Cities and Eau Claire area.

It was a chance for the athletes to showcase their skills and take part in a team sport.

“It’s creating an opportunity for everyone to be involved. Even if you don’t have a disability everyone likes to be involved whether it’s a workout class or going up to play hockey with the guys on a Wednesday night, everybody likes putting on a uniform and just getting involved,” said Courage Kenny Northland Program Coordinator Mark Hanna.

For some of these athletes Saturday’s event was only the beginning as there also regional and even national teams.
