Superior’s ice wall has touched many people, including one local artist.
Bob Abrahamson’s short story, “Tommy’s Angel”, follows a young boy and his father as they watch the ice sculpture grow.
Tommy thinks it is an angel.
He watched it take form from his bedroom window, thinking it’s his mother in heaven.
After reading the inspiring words, artist, Jane Hoffer-Moen, reached out to Abrahamson.
Abrahamson said her whimsical style was a perfect fit to his story and the two decided to create an illustrated children’s book in hopes of helping people of all ages deal with grief.
“I think a lot of people of all ages don’t know how to grieve and what’s expected of them,” said Abrahamson.
“I thought maybe it would open up a dialogue with people of all ages hopefully and some good can come out of it,” Hoffer-Moen said.
They hope to promote Superior and touch people’s hearts through the book as well as giving those a shout-out who appreciated the sculpture.
The book will be released mid-July.
