The 7th annual Fairy Princess Ball is a fun and magical event for girls of all ages that weave in lessons of philanthropy and giving back.
Tiaras and gowns were everywhere inside the Greysolon Ballroom for the princess and the frog themed event.
More than 200 moms and daughters enjoyed arts and crafts, photography, dancing and lots of other fun.
“It gives girls a chance to be a princess for a day,” said 11-year-old Avalon Smith. “Makes them feel like their royalty, like a princess. I remember when I was a little girl I always said mom I want to be a princess someday well this gives them a chance to be one.”
Proceeds from the event will to the Erick Peter Person Children’s Cancer Center in Duluth to help out families who have a child battling cancer.
“We have offered the opportunity for little girls to bring things for the cancer center that they might need whether its books or toys things like that,” Essentia Health Foundation director of annual giving and special events Charity Rupp said. “So it really teaches girls at a young age that giving back can be really fun and something great can come out of it.”
The event is expected to raise anywhere between $15-20,000 dollars.
