Beautiful sounds came from the 7th Oshkii Giizhik Women’s Hand Drumming and Singing Workshop.
Participants learned contemporary and traditional Ojibwe songs along with hand drumming techniques.
“There’s so much more music to Ojibwe culture, native cultures in general that lies outside of the pow wow circle,” workshop coordinator Lyz Jaakola said. “So women’s music is part of that, children’s music is part of that. So I think it’s really important to continue to do what we do.”
The festivities also including gifting, a water ceremony and relationship building.
The event was held at the Cloquet Forestry Center.
