The Superior Police Department will soon be taking part in the body cam initiative.
The majority of Superior Officers will begin wearing the cameras this summer on a trial run.
The department will experiment with 6 different vendors to find which camera will work best.
There are many factors to consider.
“Quality of the video, quality of sound, how it interfaces with the existing systems that we have and select one with the goal of ultimately having full implementation in our patrol division,” said Superior’s Chief, Nick Alexander.
Alexander says the cameras will be a great asset for the department and the community.
“The cameras are more often than not going to help us show or vindicate officers where complaints have been made against them and demonstrate that we’ve followed our rules and policies and are delivering the services that our community expects.”
Full implementation throughout the department is expected to happen later this year.
