6 horses on path to recovery after living in filth

Horses found living in mud and feces

(AP) – Six horses are recovering after being rescued from a small shed near Duluth where they were kept in several feet of mud and feces.

The two ponies and four full-grown horses were removed Thursday from Arnold, Minnesota. Seeds of Hope Youth Ranch led the rescue effort.

Seeds of Hope Director Wendy Crook said it will take a while to nurse the horses back to health.

Crook says some horses are malnourished and others have trouble walking.

It’s unclear who owned the horses or why they were kept in such horrible conditions.

Seeds of Hope plans to train the horses to become therapy animals
