The Depot unveiled its newest exhibit where kids can learn about life in the 1930s on a Finnish homestead.

Eli’s Farm is a replica of the Eli Wirtanen Finnish Farmstead which is located 40 miles north of Duluth.

It was built by Eli in 1904 after he immigrated from Finland.

On the interactive display kids can learn to cook, gather eggs and harvest.

“We thought it was an excellent opportunity to design something for kids where again they can learn that story of immigration,” St. Louis Historical Society executive director Joanne Coombe said.

The new exhibit costs $30,000 dollars to build and will be a permanent fixture at the Depot.
