The 2nd Annual Operation K-9 event will be put on later this week.
The event aims to raise awareness of how these crime fighting dogs help law enforcement, while raising money for future dogs.
Operation K-9 will have demonstrations of what the dogs do while working and also give attendees the chance to meet the dogs.
There will be behind the scenes tours of law enforcement equipment and vehicles.
There will also be a cook-out and other family-friendly activities.
Superior Police Chief Nick Alexander tells FOX 21 the dogs are very expensive and can cost $10,000-15,000 plus the cost of specialized training for the handler and the dog.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations are encouraged.
Operation K-9 is Thursday, June 4 at Amsoil Center in Superior.
The event runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The address to Amsoil Center is 1101 Susquehannah Ave.
