The Wisconsin Special Olympics State Summer Games are almost here and Wednesday the torch made its way across Wisconsin.

It was all for the Law Enforcement Torch runs that aims to raise awareness and funds for the organization.

“It’s something so important to them that it really hones in how wonderful it is that we can do this for them,” said Bonnie Beste, Community Policing Officer for Superior.

The brave men and women who wear a badge in Superior finished the final leg of the annual run by biking seven miles.

Organizers tell us they believe community awareness for Special Olympics Wisconsin is vital.

“We’re out there and everybody will see us riding that passes through Superior at this time so that community awareness is important too,” said Beste.

The state summer games start Thursday, June 4, at UW-Stevens Point.
