Police: 14-year-old Boy Accidentally Shot in Neck by Father

Police say a 14-year-old Minnesota boy is in critical condition after he was accidentally shot in the neck by his father.

WCCO-TV and KSTP-TV report the boy from Aitkin was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office says his father was cleaning a pistol Sunday night when it fired, hitting the boy.

KSTP-TV says a candlelight vigil was held for the boy Monday in Aitkin, which is about 30 miles northeast of Brainerd.
