Duluth Community Weighs in on Zoo Proposal

Community members packed the Duluth Parks and Rec Commission meeting Thursday to weigh in on proposals for the Lake Superior Zoo and Fairmount Park.

The city’s vision is to combine a small “kid zoo” with indoor and outdoor playgrounds, nature landscapes, accessible trail connections, and a creek side community gathering place for movies and music in the park.

The Lake Superior Zoological Society hopes to blend its plans to keep the zoo with the city’s park proposal.

The next public meeting is for Wednesday, June 10 at 5 p.m. at the Central Hillside Center.
