A campaign has kicked off to help provide 46,000 pounds of food to Northland kids.

The Duluth Superior Transportation Association is behind the the annual Fill-a-Truck, Feed a Family Food and Fund Drive.

They’re aiming to fill trucks stationed at Super One Foods in Superior and Duluth with monetary donations and nonperishable food items.

Everything will go to Second Harvest Food Bank to feed kids who may not have food to eat after school gets out.

“We’re told a story about how a child was given her cereal for the day and ate half of it and said that she was bringing the rest of it home for her brother,” Duluth Superior Transportation Association vice president Carl Svendsen said. “It’s stories like that that just tugged at us and again we just decided to do something for the community.”

They’re accepting donations through Sunday.
