A festival drawing more than 30,000 people to the Iron Range community of Virginia kicks off in a little less than two weeks.

Land of the Loon Festival is a two day event held at Olcutt Park.

The fun begins with an 80-unit parade through town.

The festival focuses on the colorful traditions and flavors of the early settlers through re-creation of artisans, crafters, musicians, and more.

“It’s just about celebrating the different ethnicities that we have in Virginia and the whole Iron Range. There are so many different types of ethnicities here and that’s how it all started and just kind of mixing it together so everyone can have a mix of everything,” explained Co-Coordinator of Land of the Loon Festival Luke Chopp.

The June 20-21 festival is free of charge.
