Children got together to get a lesson in basic safety skills at Hibbing’s Fire Hall.
It’s part of a program called Safety Town.
It teaches children how to respond to dangerous situations.
For example, in a fire.
The firefighter taught students how to prevent accidents.
“They also get to see a firefighter get dressed up into his gear. So, that if they are ever involved in a fire that they aren’t afraid when the firefighter comes in if they are trapped in the house or something like that,” said Safety Town Coordinator, Liz Westom.
Westom hopes the program spreads throughout the state.
“I hope that we see more of them sprouting up in different communities because it’s a great program for the kids to have something to learn when it comes to safety.”
It’s a two week long program with children ages 4-7.
