Minnesota State Parks offered free admission to anyone willing to get outdoors Saturday.

As part of National Get Outdoors Day all 75 state parks and recreation areas were open to the public.

Park goers in Carlton hiked, fished, picnicked and enjoyed time with family at Jay Cooke State Park.

The swinging bridge was a big attraction and sent several walkers running for stable ground.

Saturday also marked the 100th anniversary of Jay Cooke State Park, visitors were treated to cake and several exhibits with information about Minnesota’s natural history and wildlife.

This year marked the 8th National Get Outdoors Day, the event was first launched on June 14, 2008.
