The historic Glensheen mansion in Duluth is offering history buffs a more adventurous way to take a tour – in a kayak.

Day Tripper of Duluth is no stranger to a kayak trip, and this is a partnership between them and the folks at the Historic Congdon Estate.

For $45.00, all equipment and instructions are provided, and you can tour the shoreline near and just east of the mansion.

Those in charge say they hope this will be one of the more unique experiences in Duluth.

“There’s a great characteristic of Glensheen: the Lake, right here. Not many other house museums have a Lake Superior.”

The folks with Day Tripper say you don’t have to have much or any experience with kayaking to give the tour a try.

“We have the guide and we give you all the safety instruction and kayak instruction you need to get,” explains Day Tripper founder Jake Boyce. “The guide will be with you the whole time to give you pointers and keeping things safe.”

Kayak tours at Glensheen will be offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Day Tripper of Duluth’s website has information on what times the tours are, and ways to schedule a trip.
