Three years ago rain drenched the Northland causing millions of dollars in damage and loss.

The water’s force was so powerful it deteriorated homes, public and green infrastructure.

Duluth Mayor Don Ness tells FOX 21 while there is still several million dollar’s worth of work that needs to be done the city is about 95% recovered from the flood.

“It’s really remarkable how far this community has come and there’s many reasons for that,” said Ness. “The community rallied together, we had the support from the state and from FEMA.”

Mayor Ness also tells FOX 21 Duluth has applied for a federal HUD grant to address unmet needs in the stream banks, public and private sectors.

Millions of dollars in construction to fix flood rattled areas will kick off this summer.
