Grandma’s Marathon Creates Economic Impact

Grandma’s marathon also means a lot of economic impact for local businesses.
Vitta Pizza starting preparing for the influx of customers at four o’clock in the morning.
They even brought on extra staff.
Located right by the finish line, runners and their families came in for beer and pizza from a wood fired oven.
“We do expect to be busy,” Vitta Pizza owner Brad Erickson said. “It’s fun to also see all the returning runners that come year after year and say hi. So it’s cool. It’s just a unique atmosphere for Duluth and really puts Duluth on the map.”
Erickson tells FOX 21 business usually goes up about 30% on Grandma’s weekend.
