Community Members in Duluth Gather for AME Vigil in Prayer

Community Honors Charleston Victims

Sorry, this video is no longer available

Monday afternoon, hundreds of people filled St. Mark’s AME Church to remember the 9 victims who were shot and killed in a Charleston Church.

A memorial bell ringing was held in support of the victims and their families.

It was a day of remembrance and a place to heal together.

The local Chapter of the Brady Campaign, an anti-gun violence group, held this event.

Leaders hope to get the community involved in more discussions about racial injustice and gun violence.

“We need a national discussion about the racial injustice and in general, the violence that is occurring in our county.  So, hopefully people will get more engaged.  We know that people are with us.  But, we need their voices to get louder and we need them to insist that something happens,” said Vice President of the Northland Brady Campaign Chapter, Joan Peterson.

Eighty-eight people die from gun wounds everyday.

June is National Gun Violence Awareness month.
