We’re taking a detour from talking about food in this week’s Knowing Your Neighbors; instead we take you to a one stop shop in Hibbing.

Toner Planet and Silver Birch Gift Shop is a unique store along Hibbing’s main corridor.

“We’re a full service shipping center. We ship UPS, Fed Ex, Speedy Delivery or the mail,” said Toner Planet and Silver Birch Gifts Owner Mary Rabe.

The shop offers much more than shipping, faxing and copying services, as they also have a gift shop.

It started out small and has expanded within the last year, doubling in size to expand their women’s attire, baby products and gourmet section.

“We just have a little bit of everything and a lot of friendly customer service,” said Rabe.

Rabe and her husband own the business.

It started as a small online office supply company at their home before moving to its current location and growing into a gift shop.

“I had one of those moments yesterday morning when I came in the back door. Wow, I’m a business owner this is my business and it just felt very surreal,” exclaimed Rabe.

In the small Iron Range community, Rabe said there is a demand for a business that offers it all.

“We hear every day, or just about every day how much we’re needed and how much we’re appreciated by the public and it’s so good to hear. We have great customer and community support,” said Rabe.
