The Duluth YMCA and the Greater Downtown Council hosted the 8th Annual Sidewalk Shuffle 5K Wednesday morning on the Lakewalk.
The race raised money to help youth and families in the community participate in YMCA memberships and programs.
“So they can go to camp, learn life skills like CPR and first aid. So, they can go swimming and have it be a safe place for families to come and do some physical activity and be healthy together,” said Health and Wellness Director at the Duluth YMCA, Tara Gallagher.
This year, they hit a record with more than 500 runners participating.
“Everything that we do is based on giving back to the community to try to make it healthier, to give youth opportunities and youth development and try to have social responsibility as well,” said Gallagher.
