After months of renovations, Billings Park in Superior is almost ready to reopen to the public.
Those visiting the park will see new pathways that will be wheelchair accessible.
In addition, period style lighting is now placed in the park along with some trail repairs near the shore.
“When your parks are updated, they receive a lot of use and this is a high use park already. We want people to be comfortable in the park. We want them to feel like they can use the facilities comfortable and I predict that we will have more reservations than ever before,” said Mary Morgan with Parks and Recreation for the City of Superior.
But, the changes aren’t done yet.
“There are recommendations for what we call 2nd Point. We do have a Superior Douglas County Leadership group that intends to establish a Children’s Memorial Garden on 2nd Point a little bit later this season,” said Morgan.
The park will reopen this Saturday, July 18th.
