Taste of Greece Festival Draws Thousands to Marshall School

Thousands of Northlanders flooded the sidewalks and halls of Marshall School for celebration of Greek food, culture, and religion.

Twelve Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church put on the 23rd Annual Taste of Greece Festival Saturday and Sunday.

The lines were long, and food was flying off the grills as more than 3,000 people attended the two day festival.

In addition to the traditional Gyros and Souvlaki (pork shish-ka-bobs) festival could purchase a lamb or Athenian chicken dinner, baklava sundaes, and “Big Fat Greek Salads.”

Food wasn’t the only thing on the menu though, displays of traditional Greek dance and Culture were put on through out the festival.

Greek Orthodox Worship services were also held.

Church and festival officials said that while the event is a church fundraiser, it is an event for the entire community.

Father Timothy Sas, said the festival gives his church an opportunity to interact with the community on a larger scale. .
