A young Cloquet man died Wednesday after a tragic head-on crash on Highway 61.

Cole Drechsler is described by his parents as a vibrant, loving person who had a lot of friends and loved life.

Drechsler was studying at the College of St. Scholastica to be a physician assistant.
It was Saturday night on Highway 61 near Knife River when the Minnesota State

Patrol says a 63-year-old man from Florida struck Drechsler’s vehicle head-on.
That driver was killed.

Drechsler’s passenger, Sarah Buscher, 19, of Cloquet, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A cause of the crash is under investigation.

Funeral arrangements were pending Wednesday.
