The National Weather Service in Duluth opened its offices to the public Wednesday.
At an open house event, people took a tour of the entire National Weather Service facility, from the measuring instruments outdoors, to the radar dish, to the forecasting computers inside the office.
The meteorologists at the National Weather Service office say they want the public to get a peek into their world, to know how they do what they do.
“We are tax-payer funded,” explains Warning Coordination Meteorologist Carol Christenson. “This is your National Weather Service. Everyone should have an opportunity to see how their money is being spent. Plus, we’re great people, we’re friendly and we love to talk weather!”
This is the first time Duluth office has held an open house since 2006.
