Thieves Steal Solar Wire from St. Paul Saints’ New Ballpark

5,000 Feet of Wire Stolen

Thieves have stolen solar wire valued at about $1,000 from the St. Paul Saints’ new ballpark.

Police say about 5,000 feet of solar wire was stolen over the weekend from an area behind CHS Field.

St. Paul Saints spokesman Sean Aronson says Hunt Electric is installing solar panels that will provide 12 percent of the energy at the ballpark in St. Paul’s Lowertown area.

The stolen specialized wire was on two spools that weighed about 250 pounds each.

Aronson tells the St. Paul Pioneer Press thieves took apart the racks the wire was on, unwound the wire and then put the racks back together.

Police are investigating.

No arrests have been made.
