A Federal District Court judge’s ruling in the Fond Du Lac, Duluth revenue sharing case could have a negative impact on Duluth street projects.

The judges ruling eliminates a 10.5 million dollar debt owed to the city by the Fond Du Lac band.

The two parties had agreed to a revenue sharing plan when the Fond Du Luth casino was built in the mid 1980’s.

Duluth City Attorney Gunnar Johnson said the two sides renewed the agreement in the 90’s and the City continued to receive revenue sharing payments until payments unilaterally ended in 2009.

Johnson said the City has not had time to determine whether or not it will appeal the latest ruling or where it will make up the 10.5 million dollars in revenue.
