The American Red Cross is asking for a helping hand in the face of a blood shortage.
Officials say they’re facing a shortage of O negative, B negative and A negative in the blood bank.
While summer may be a busy time of year, the Red Cross is calling all donors to help stock the shelves for patients.
“People are busy. There are vacations and there’s all types of activities going on and people may not just keep that on the forefront. But, blood is a product that expires and blood only comes from another person. So, it’s important to make sure that we have that blood supply,” said territory manager for blood donations, Amy Cranig.
They need a three day supply for hospitals and right now they don’t have enough.
The Red Cross is also looking for platelet and plasma donors.
