Wade Stadium was roaring Thursday evening for the 8th annual Guns ‘n’ Hoses softball game.
Duluth firefighters and police officers hit the diamond to raise money for the Northern Lights Foundations, which helps Northland families who have children with life-threatening illnesses.
While the cause is serious, Thursday’s game was all about fun!
“It’s just a fun family event. You see all the kids here having a good time. They love watching the police and fire department. The guys on the field are pretty competitive. They look like they’re having fun, but they want to win the game,” said Ken Larson, executive director and founder of the Northern Lights Foundation.
For the eighth year in a row, the Duluth Police Department took home the win over the firefighters at a score of 21 to 11.
However, the Duluth Fire Department has consistently raised more money for the Northern Lights foundation than the police officers have.
