In just a few days, people living in Lincoln and Morgan Parks will have better access to fresh food.
The Duluth Transit Authority hosted a kickoff celebration for its Grocery Express route Thursday.
The plan is to pick people up at seven different bus stops, bring them directly to Super One and then back to their original stop.
This is a first for the DTA.
“We do have frequent service that gets people close to grocery stores, but we’ve never had service that gets passengers right to the front of a grocery store,” said Heath Hicock, director of marketing with the Duluth Transit Authority.
The route will run every Tuesday starting September 1.
Lincoln and Morgan Park have been labeled a ‘food desert’ – an area one mile or more away from a grocery store.
