The pride celebrations roll on in the Twin Ports, and Saturday’s festival is known as the ‘Crown Jewel’ of the entire weekend.
Thousands from all over the Midwest spent the day in Bayfront Park listening to live music and showing their support for the LGBT community.
Though it’s the 29th year of the Duluth–Superior Pride weekend, organizers say June’s Supreme Court ruling, legalizing same–sex marriage, makes this year’s celebration much more meaningful than in years past.
“We’re trying to exemplify the fact that well, times have really evolved over the years, that people have started families, everyone can get married now, and that’s kind of what we’re trying to evolve with, that it really is truly a family event,” said Co-Chair of the Duluth-Superior Pride Foundation, Nathan Westerberg.
Sunday’s pride lineup includes a parade in Superior, a boat ride on the Vista Fleet, and a train ride along the North Shore Scenic Railroad.
