History comes alive this weekend in Ashland at the Mural Fest and Car Show Celebration.
In 2005, the Wisconsin legislature designated the community as the mural capital of the state.
There are 17 murals around town showcasing Ashland’s history of ore docks, lumberjacks and veterans.
“One of the artists of the murals will be hosting the tour so she will be on the bus. She has an intimate relationship with the murals and telling how it is painted, she has board she will be showing,” said Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director Mary Mcphetridge.
A new mural is set for next summer which will honor the Apostle Islands.
