The City of Superior is invested in the future of Tower Avenue.

The vitality of the street comprising the main section of Downtown Superior is so important to the city that they are willing to contribute $200,000 to the renovations of a vacant building on the street.

A developer is currently in talks to purchase the former Lurye Furniture Store building at the corner of 12th St. and Tower Ave. if the building is purchased the city will provide the money as a grant.

Plans for the building include commercial space on the ground floor and seven market rate apartments on each of the upper two floors.

Superior Planning Director, Jason Serck says the City believes providing a grant for the renovations will help the developer receive other grants at the state level.

Serck added that filling residential space in the Downtown area could help to increase business at the bars, restaurants and other commercial entities on and around Tower Ave.
