The Duluth Parks Commission voted unanimously, Wednesday night, to approve the West Duluth Sports Corridor Mini-Master Plan.
The plan is broken into 3 phases that will provide upgrades to Wade Stadium and the Wheeler Athletic Complex and connect both public facilities to the Heritage Sports Center via a trail.
Planning for the proect began in December 2014, and has been revised based on input given at public hearings and commission meetings.
The Parks Commission’s approval of the mini-master plan, does not mean that it will be completed; the Plan still needs to be approved by the Duluth City Council.
The plan will be presented to the Council at their September 28th meeting.
Budget concerns will also need to be addressed as parts of the project are already exceeding preliminary budgets.
The approved mini-master plan can be viewed here.
