Trees are Hinting the Season changing

Visitors continue to visit state parks like Jay Cook as the trees show that summer is fading in to autumn.

Some of the trees such as the Basswood and Ash, have started to turn yellow, but the red and orange hues are still yet to come.

Jay Cook rangers said the peak season is usually the end of September to the beginning of October.

Rangers also said that not all leaves are created equal.  Some trees like the ash and bass wood will never turn Orange or red while Maple trees have orange and red pigments in them, which are revealed as the green pigment breaks down in the fall.

The best weather for beautiful fall colors are: cold crisp nights, warm sunny days, and a little bit of rain in between.

If it storms too hard, the leaves may fall before fully turning colors.
