Tuesday, the northeast chapter of ABATE – American Bikers for Awareness Teaching and Education – donated ‘Buddy Bears’ to the Carlton County volunteer Fire and Ambulance.
The program supports children in trauma cases who receive these buddy bears.
Officials say the bears can help a totally unresponsive child cheer up right away.
“It’s something that lasts. There are many people that have received buddy bears in the past, that have come back 10, 15 years later, they still have them and they still remember what effect it had,” explained Ed McPhail, an ABATE Representative.
The program is in its 15th year.
