The St. Louis River Alliance upheld a Northland Tradition by hosting a Train Ride for their 20th Anniversary as an organization.

The group offered a scenic train ride on the Lake Superior and Mississippi railroad to view the fall colors along the St. Louis River.

The train ride included food, and passengers were able to learn the history of the river.

The event was organized as a fundraiser, with the proceeds going to the non profit to help protect the river.

“Mostly we want to connect people to the river, so that they can become stewards of the river.” said Kris Eilers, the Executive Director if the St. Louis River Alliance.

And protecting the river was a message that the passengers could get behind.

The alliance says that protecting the river is essential to both the economic and environmental health of the community.

The St. Louis River Alliance works with different agencies in Minnesota and Wisconsin to help plan clean-up projects on the river.
