Beard Challenge to Help Northland Children Stay Warm

Coffee Conversation: Operation Warm Beard Challenge

Sorry, this video is no longer available

Operation Warm is an organized focused on purchasing new, American made, winter jackets for local kids in need.

Jon Otis, firefighter and co-chair of Operation Warm says a winter jacket for a child in need could mean more than you think.

Many Northland kids who don’t have jackets can’t go to school.

In an effort to raise money for the cause, the group is putting on a beard challenge.

Many well-known men with noticeable beards have put a bounty on their beard. If that amount of money is raised before Thursday, they will shave their beards.

The men taking part in the challenge are Bryon Tonnis, co-owner of Bent Paddle Brewing Company; St. Louis County Social Worker, Jim Gaylord; Alakef Coffee Roaster, Ezra Bennett; Nick Pascuzzi of Vikre Distillery; and Blake Thomas, musician and creator of the Take It With You radio show.

The challenge is ongoing, so there is still time to donate to a a beard!

The shaving event takes place Thursday, October 22 at Clyde Iron Works.

The event is from 5-9 p.m. with several family friendly activities and a set by Big Wave Dave and the Ripples.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door and children are free.
