Books Come Alive Through Song for Duluth Kids

Preschoolers were treated to a special storytime at the Duluth Public Library.

Stories came to life through song.

It’s part of the “Stories Sing” program, where a member of the minnesota opera reads and teaches kids about the opera.

The hope is for kids to create a love of both music and reading.

On Wednesday, Kids saw the “Opera Cat” come to life.

“I have two other books that I do, Westward Ho, Carlotta by Candace Fleming and “The Dog Who Sang at the Opera” which is based on a true story that happened at the Metropolitan Opera. We try to do a variety but there’s not that much out there,” said Alisa Magallon, Teaching Artist for the Minnesota Opera.

The Minnesota Opera will travel to twelve other libraries on the North Shore and Iron Range to promote the program.
