The Lake Superior National Estuarine Research Reserve received a grant of over $300,000.

The grant comes from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, with a match provided by the University of Wisconsin-Extension.

The grant will go towards renovating the building, and creating engaging exhibits that will be open to the public.

“We’re hoping to have it be really interactive, and really tell people stories about how the river influences our lives,” said Deanna Erickson, the Education Coordinator of NERR.

The building is expected to be open to the public by the summer of 2017.
