Grocery stores across the Northland had new greeters, Saturday.
Boy and Cub Scouts manned the entrances and exits of Super Ones, Cub Foods, and even the Cloquet Wal-Mart collecting food and monetary donations for CHUM.
The scouts were part of CHUM’S “Share Food Drive” shoppers could purchase individual items to be collected by the scouts, grocery bags pre-filled with food, or make monetary donations as they exited the stores.
Scouts took turns manning the doors in 2 hour shifts, Saturday.
Eight year old scout Justin Gutowski said taking part in the event meant a lot to him, because he wanted to help people who didn’t have enough food get the supplies they needed.
He also enjoyed saying hello to everyone as they passed.
