Douglas County Hosts First Military Ball

Honoring Veterans at Military Ball

Less than a week before Veterans Day, Douglas County held its first ever Veterans Ball.

Organized by the Douglas County Veterans Service Office it aimed to honor those who have and are serving, while at the same time allowing them and their families to gather as a community.

The master of ceremonies Jim Paine is a former Marine and explained why this event is so special and necessary.

“One of the best parts of coming home and being a Veteran moving from being an active service member to being a beteran is the strong sense of community we have. I personally am proud of this community for the recognition we give veterans in this community,” said Former Marine Jim Paine.

The event raised money for the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Fund.
