Drivers Cited For Hitting Pedestrian; Victim Identified
Victim's Father: 'We Appreciate All The Support'
Two drivers have been cited after hitting a 17-year-old boy on Tower Avenue last Thursday.
28-year-old Eugena Sandberg was cited by police for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, “unreasonable and imprudent” speed, operating without a valid driver’s license and operating without insurance.
19-year-old Claire Harvey was cited for “unreasonable and imprudent” speed.
The Superior Police Department was called out to the accident on Tower Avenue and North 20th Street around 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
Police say 17-year-old Dakota Hewitt was in the crosswalk on Tower walking east when he was first struck by Sandberg.
Hewitt fell to the ground and was then struck by Harvey.
Authorities say visibility was poor at the time of the accident due to rain and sleet.
Hewitt remained hospitalized in stable condition Thursday.
Hewitt’s father, Tony, told FOX 21’s Dan Hanger Thursday night that Hewitt “is doing pretty good and is stable — but a long road ahead him to get back to normal, hopefully. Let the public know we appreciate all the support and well wishes.”
