Local, State Leaders Discuss Minnesota Capitol Artwork
Minnesota state and local representatives are asking for ideas related to artwork hung at the state Capitol.
A group of leaders with the Capitol Preservation Commission’s Art Subcommittee met at The Depot Tuesday to brainstorm and hear from locals.
Over recent years, people have expressed concern about a lack of historical accuracy in some paintings and very few women and minority groups being represented.
“I hope that there will be things that people recognize that their friends and neighbors might have done. I hope that there are things that are appealing to children and people of all ages,” said Representative Mary Murphy (DFL-Hermantown).
The Capitol is currently closed as it undergoes a top to bottom three year renovation expected to wrap up in 2017.
