What Not To Feed Fido on Thanksgiving

Onions, Garlic, Grapes, and Chocolate are Not the Only Ones

Thanksgiving is on Thursday, and loved ones, including furry family members will be gathering to celebrate.

But some of the delicious foods on our holiday menus can cause major health problems for Fluffy or Fido. Foods high in fats and sugars should be avoided, as well as food with onions, garlic, grapes, or chocolate.

“The other things that are obvious but I think really need reminders about are not to give any chicken bones and to really make sure we put our garbage away because anytime that can get in to the garbage is when problems can start,” said Dr. Lisa Juten, a Veterinarian at the Duluth Veterinary Hospital.

Foods that are safe special treats include a little bit of unseasoned turkey and vegetables like carrots and green beans.
