New Logging Bill Allows Heavy Logging Trucks on I-35

Trucks No Longer Have to Drive in Down Town Duluth

A bill by Congressman Rick Nolan permitting heavy logging trucks on Interstate I-35 has been approved by the house and the senate, and signed in to law by President Barack Obama.

Federal regulations prevent logging trucks weighing more than 80,000 pounds from using I-35. Because of this, heavy logging trucks had to travel down Superior Street in Duluth..

The bill makes it possible for trucks weighing up to 99,000 lbs with six axles to operate on a 24 mile stretch of I-35.
