Duluth Kids Shop With Duluth Cops

Police officers in Duluth are making sure every child has a Merry Christmas.

Officers paired up with around 18 children for the 6th annual “Blue Santa Shop with a Cop” event Monday night at Target.

Each child received $200 to spend on either themselves or gifts for their family.

Police say the event is a good way to build better relationships with the community and to show kids that police are there to protect.. and serve.

“It is a great way for us to spend time with the kids and you know, it’s a way we can give back as a department,” said Duluth Police Public Information Officer, Ron Tinsley.

“We’re lucky with all the other kids and this is my first time doing this, and I’m very thankful for it,” said 8-year-old Cassidy Barber, who was shopping with a cop.

The event was made possible with donations from Target, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Duluth Police Department.
