The City Of Duluth Talks Unusual Ice Buildup
If you’ve noticed ice build-up on Duluth’s city streets, you’re not alone the city is ready to help.
Officials tell us November’s abnormal rainfall and then freezing and thawing have kept sump pumps working hard, which is now freezing.
“Sump pumps are running there’s a tremendous volume of water coming out of the hillside which is causing some icing issues,” Duluth Program Coordinator Chris Kleist said.
The city tell us those hundreds of sump pumps are critical to the city’s effort to reduce storm-water run-off into Lake Superior.
