Northlanders Take Advantage of Snowfall
3 to 5 Inches Fell Across the Northland
One day late, Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas, after 3 to 5 inches of snow fell in the Northland.
Though some Northlanders saw it as a chore, the heavy snowfall came as a delight to ski hills and resorts in the area
“In a town like Duluth you need to be able to enjoy winter or else you’re miserable,” said Dave Schaeffer, the Executive Director of Chester Bowl.
Northland families spent some quality time on the fresh powder, skiing and snowboarding
“We were so excited to look out and see the snow falling down it helps keep our hills fresh, it gets everybody excited and in the season,” said Schaeffer.
Skiing and snowboarding aren’t the only highlights of winter. Though the snow was an inconvenience to outdoor hockey rinks, it wasn’t about to stop committed hockey players from playing
“On one of our rinks we got snow removal happening and they’re going to blow all the snow off the rinks for us and we’ll come out with the Zamboni here in a little bit,” said Bart Olek, Rink Director of Glen Avon,
” It’s a culture in Minnesota, hockey is in everyone’s blood and being able to take advantage of it is like nowhere else.”
