Fire Causes $37,000 in Damage to Duluth Home

A fire at a West Duluth home overnight caused around $37,000 in damage.

The Duluth Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the wall at 6124 Cody Street around midnight Sunday.

Crews located a fire in the upstairs bathroom that had spread to the attic and the exterior of the house.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and remained on scene for two hours in -15 degree temperatures.

Two people and two dogs were inside the home when the fire broke out, but escaped unharmed.

The fire department says that improper thawing of pipes was to blame for the fire.
